Author Gregory Sumner shares stories from his new book about the many German and Italian POWs housed in the Detroit area during WWII, and their encounters with ordinary Americans who treated them with kindness and respect despite their enemy status. Historic Presentation Night at Yankee Air Museum – “Shot Down”by author Steve Snyder

Author Steve Snyder has researched the dramatic WWII experiences of his father, pilot Howard Snyder, and his crew. After being shot down, some crewmen became POWs, while others evaded capture with the assistance of courageous Belgian people who risked their lives to save them.
